A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
On a second look, the bass was right near the boat waiting on the bait. It was ahead of the bait not behind it. Unusual!
We had a cousin once that reeled in, laid his reel in the boat with the bait dangling over the outside of the boat, got his sandwich to eat and a big bass hung himself on his bait. He was quick enough to grab his rod and catch the fish.
I lost an ambassador on a brand new ugly stick doing the same as your cousin, but I was on the flats fiddling with the ice chest when something big smashed my rig and the pole did a hudinni right into 12' of saltwater....
Time is the most precious commodity we have in life, stay focused.
I had a Sabiki rig out on a little ultralight, just sitting on the side of the boat, not in a holder. A ladyfish grabbed one of the tiny little rigs and the fight was on. Grabbed the pole in the nick of time. Actually landed it. We fished cut ladyfish for a while that day.
Ducks, turkeys, flats fishing. Who has time for golf?
