Yesterday My Son Graduated from Basic Training at Fort Benning. He is now a man. He said Dad, I'm all grown up now and on my own, so stop asking what else you can do for me. It was terribly hard for me to leave him yesterday. Today he's headed to Fort Sam with 20 others from the 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment.

Fort Sam. 43 ways in an out; no gates, no guards. The RiverWalk; sweet. Lack land AFB near by is full of female trainees. Yeah, he's going to like Fort Sam.
To fish, or not to fish, . . . those are the answers.
Thanks Guys- I am more proud of my son than I ever have been. He has demonstrated his independence and has left the nest. He is now at Fort Sam Houston along with 20 of his new "brothers" who graduated alongside him (they were all in the same platoon, "the Crusaders"). He knows all their names, and they know him. He arrived at Fort Sam Friday evening and will be staying in reception with his "brothers" until they find their training home on Monday.
While we were at his graduation, he handed off some of his personal items to take home. He gave us a something that looks like a yearbook full of pictures of all the training and all the new soldiers. It was hard on me and his mom to drop him off for the last time. He said he would come home for Christmas, but I am skeptical. I hated saying goodbye. I got all teary eyed.
