What's been the bait of choice lately? I've heard cut bait and white gulp a few times.

This time of the year we like to use hard jerkbaits and soft jerks in shallow water around rocky bottom as well as oyster bars. Don't forget topwater. :-D
Last weekend we tore em up on hard jerks in 2 foot of water fishing around rocks.

I've always found a Cotton Cordell Redfin in Gold (any size) to be highly effective starting around this time of year all the way through the winter to spring. Go ahead and buy a few of em, the trout eat the finish off pretty quick when the bite is really on!
But any kind of jerk-bait should do you well this time of year. The rate of retrieval is more important that the particular bait/color you're using.

Red_Yakker's recommendation is right in line with what we used last weekend, and we had no short supply of bites. Take a sip between your twitches and enjoy the scenery..... but don't forget to hold on!!

Somebody mentioned Gulp but I am sure that's a fad that won't last. ;-)
