Taking my daughter in a coulple of weeks

New to the area and new to this board. Looking for advice on where to take my daughter to target saltwater fish in early March. She is in college and coming down for spring break in early March. I only have a canoe and have spent a lot of time on this site looking for information. Problem is, there is so much information here that I've confused myself! I live near St. Marks and would like to stay close to home if possible. I'd appreciate your suggestions. Many thanks!

Since your in a canoe I would try Wakulla Beach or Levy Bay... both will normally be protected from the winds and hold fish.

Thank you! Those were two areas on my list. I was just not sure if they held fish in early March.

The weather is so erratic its hard to say if they will be shallow or deep but they will be there

Bofus, a pretty good bet for y'all if it stays warm is the so-called East River. Easy enuf and protected. From St Marks lighthouse ramp, paddle out to end of canal then turn right (north). All the water contiguous to the right (east) shoreline is the East River.

As someone else who fishes from a canoe, thanks for these tips.

I have a question, though. I imagine that, by the time the weather gets hot, there won't be as many fish in Levy/Dickerson Bays or in the East River. The original poster was specifically asking for information about a couple of weeks for now, but I'd like your opinions more generally — what times of year would it be worth it to paddle into these areas to fish?

Thanks Harmsway! We plan to fish for 3-4 days and will give that area a shot if mother nature cooperates...
