Stemming from my recent thread on the search for possible cobia structure within kayak range of the shore, I found the GPS numbers for the Wreck of the Francille off of Mashes Sands. Haven't been able to find much of any info on it though. Looks like it might be in water about 20' deep? Anyone have any details? Does it hold fish, what type likely to encounter, worth the paddle out there, etc.?
Thanks!

It is about 3000 ft off the beach area of mashes sand. Never fished it.. that area is a small deep spot. May hold sheepheads.
Red arrow points to it. Approx GPS - 29.58 84.20. Sunk in 1976

Re: Wreck of the Francille...?
Yeah I found it on the charts, was just trying to track down some additional information or see if anyone had fished it before heading out there myself. Was hoping to figure out in advance the approximate size of the wreck, actual depth that it's sitting in, and especially whether or not there actually is a visible mast as indicated on the charts.
I'm not currently rigged with a fishfinder so I have some concern about being able to definitively locate the site once I'm out there short of surface indicators. Also unsure of how the current moves through that area and whether it's even worth attesting in a yak.
Guess ill just have to give it a shot in the next couple of weeks and find out!

Re: Wreck of the Francille...?
Found a depth reference for the Francille, says it's only sitting in 15ft of water. If that's true, probably not worth checking out. =/ Might be good for a random cobia encounter but is a little too out of the way to make a normal stop I think.

A LOT of these wrecks on the charts are outdated. Some have moved with the storms over the years, or just disintegrated into the salt water.
It may not even be there anymore....1976 was quite a few years ago.
