Mercury Marine Manufacturing Video Clip

Post by silverking »

I realize there are a lot of Yamaha fans on this board, but I wanted to share this video clip about a successful American manufacturing company, Mercury Marine. The division of Brunswick is celebrating 75 years and they are definitely adapting to changing technologies and the work force. No dog in this hunt other than I make my living in the marine industry and proud to see a company creating and supporting American jobs. I have owned Mercury/Mariner outboards in the past and they never let me down when I was running charters. For the last 13 years, there's been a white engine hanging off my transom though.

Great video
I love how they partnered up with the magnet schools in the area to develop interest and future talent.

Love my Merc Saltwater 90. 12 years, NEVER hiccupped. Only problem I ever had with boat running was a bad fuel line breaking up getting trash in the fuel pump.

Oh, and it once pulled an Evinrude back to the doc, as well as a 25 foot inboard from 15 miles out( but i will never do that one again, 3 1/2 hours )..... :o

I guess I need to get over my old time prejudice. Back in the day, they had a poor reputation. About 10 years ago my neighbor got one and he swore at it for a couple of years.

I am thinking of re-powering the Ol' Pro with a 150 4 stroke. I might have to take a closer look. I like to buy American.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

My merc 40 is 19 years old and the only problem I ever had was water in the tank. Purged the water and takes a likin' and keeps on tickin'.

Kinda like the Ford, Dodge, GMC, Chevy thing.

Everybody swears by what they got.

I own a Dodge and a GMC. Both do the job I purchased them for...

Just can not bring my self to look at a Ford though. I do not need a "manstep"

I am not a bigoted man. I've got a ford, a chevy and a VW (built in the US) in my garage. However, I can not make myself buy a dodge. Might need more sensitivity therapy! :smt005 :smt005

The chevy is a truck and while the engine and trans is the cats meow, the rest stinks! I had always had Fords before then (back before they were cool) and had very few issues. My daughter has a chevy and it has had 2 recalls since I bought it for her this time last year.

What did the Ford man say to the Chevy man ... I don't recall. :smt005 :smt005 :smt005
