Had to take one of my dogs to the vet first thing, so the tub didn't hit the water 'til 10. Went out east of the lighthouse, about 1.5 miles shy of black rock. Set up a drift in about 3-4 feet. Threw the "handful of artificials" and got a handful of nothing. Switched to shrimp. Even worse: catfish. Went to a candycorn SA. Two keeper trout on the next two casts. Then some shorts, then a slack tide and nothing. Moved in to fish for reds and immediately got a nice 19 incher. Back to the flats when the tide started moving. More shorts, and all of a sudden the pole with the pinner behind the boat is bent in half. Cobia. Looked to be just about keeper size. Got a real good look as he decided he didn't want the hook in his mouth any more. Off he swam, and I almost followed. Went over to East River and caught a bunch more reds, nothing of any size, and two of the biggest ladyfish I've ever seen. Off the water at 4:30, with no grouper trooper at the ramp.

Not a bad Monday at all.

Mr. B had to have a follow-up visit on the leg surgery. Everything seems to be working.

Got a crawfish boil on Saturday; Sunday looks good for the water. I'll give you a call later.

Great way to remember a trip, Mr. Cobia. :o Don't matter if you've been catching only ladyfish all day. One chance at a big boy Cobia, and it's all worth it. You never know when your chance is coming do you. Always seems to be when your not prepared.
