Keaton beach 3-21-15

Post by hambric85 »

Went out of Keaton beach today. Tried a few deep channels next to the flats, then ended up between bog grassy island and mainland sight fishing. Caught a spot, saw a nice cobia just couldn't get him to play. Then we worked our way out to 6-4ft grass out in front of the island. As everyone else moved to shallow, we moved to deeper. From 130-4 we got 5 nice fat trout 17-20in. Caught two of them on a chatterbait by Buddha baits. He's got one when paired with a yellow swimbait looks a lot like a pinfish. And speaking of those little suckers, they cost me about 15 gulp shrimp. The ones we saw and caught were only 2-2.5in. Caught the trout on bottom bouncing a shrimp or swimming my chatterbait on bottom. Then the wind picked up and we hauled azz back to the ramp to see wayyyy too many people for my likings. There must have been 30 trucks in line for the lift, and at least that many for the ramp.. Still had a good day and from what we heard we did better than others. The trout were soft mouthing the baits today. Only one solid hit. The rest were literal guesses, grass or fish???? Hope this helps somebody. Good luck, and tight lines!

Very softmouthed today. They weren't acting hungry. Saw quite a few keeper trout shallow, just couldn't get them to bite. Had one swim 5ft from my bow following a prop scar. The area needs 3 more weeks, then its good to go!!!
