Where to go Memeorial Day weekend

Want to take the better half fishing and would love to put her on a cobia.
My ride is not too large (15.5 ft.) so I need to stay inshore. We have fished out of St Marks but the six mile slow ride to the Gulf kills me. We have looked at a few other places and find few or no acomodations. What is the boards suggestions?

Welcome aboard!!
I fish out of Shell Point and Spring creek. Both have a shorter ride to the gulf than Shell Island out of St. Marks. There is a ramp behind the Spring Creek resturant with parking, $10 to launch. As far as accommodations over Memorial Day weekend....good luck. There are a few places to stay in that area, but as far as I know they are booked! Check http://www.alreadygonefishing.com and there's a link to another property owened by the same person on that site.
If you're staying at shell island you can trailer your boat to the light house or spring creek ramps. I know it's a pain to take your boat out and put it in every day, but it beats that long ride down river.

Thank you for the information. I did not know there was a boat ramp at the St. Marks lighthouse. That sounds like a workable solution. We live only a couple hour away. Worst case we could drive down for the day. You have a great web site.

I strongly recomend that you get to the LH early! It has a large parking area, but it gets very busy during the holidays

Memorial day weekend, if your going to be up here it would be a shane to miss the white trash bash altough I don't know if you would want to take you wife to that. This will be my first year so I have no idea what its like I have only heard some real good stories!!!
