Just so the skunked don't feel alone, and in the interest of science, I report that Saturday my buddy and I tried hard in Alligator Bay and off Turkey Point. We got a too small red, a small spanish, a small shark, a sting ray, and a variety of very exciting catfish each of which put up a fight designed to fool us into thinking they were something else entirely. We brought this on ourselves by using cut bait and shrimp.
At least yopu got to go. Try to catch some live pins and fish the smaller ones under a CT float. Might help reduce the by-catch.
A small red is better than no red.
