St George East End Saturday May 15

Post by FishnTim »

Well the catch was modest but the day very enjoyable. Got to St George State Park about 8:30, they still had a few East End passes so my buddy and I got one. The wind was blowing pretty hard but there was 3-4 groups of folks fishing when we got down there already. The surf was really boiling around the point. First cast on cut fresh shrimp I caught a 19" trout, into the cooler! People were catching fish off and on all morning, but no real major bite happend. I saw a few spanish, several bluefish 12-15", a couple of whiting, a few sharks, one other small trout and numerous blue runners and catfish. No pompano. One guy fishing next to me hooked a bull red and got him to the surf before performing a "West Palm release" on him. It wasn't huge but it was probably 30-32" Like a say, it was steady but nobody was really tearing them up. I ended up keeping one gut hooked bluefish besides the trout, but that was it for game fish. One nice thing about the wind, it kept the bugs off! Bite really slowed down after high tide so we packed up and headed back about 2pm.

What is the deal with the East End passes? Do you need a 4 x 4 to get out there? TIA for any info,
Leave everything a little better than you found it.
