St. Marks 4/16-18

Post by Shrike »

Went East and West in iffy weather all three days. Caught 1 keeper flounder off the bar and three nice trout going west. Very tough fishing. Few pinfish and not much else beyond a few cats and a couple of remora. Looks like the best bet was East around Grey Mare.

Some say the water is too fresh/dirty, some say the grass in not back yet. Regardless, not much bait on the flats. Both nice trout were full of eggs and had empty stomachs. Should turn on soon, but not for us. :(

Launched at the lighthouse on Saturday and fished till about 15:00. Managed one Spanish on live shrimp out in front of the lighthouse. Fished East River on the incoming and managed only hardheads. Ran into some buddies of mine and they boated a nice sheepshead in the East earlier in the day. iSolunar app called for 4 redfish day! Pretty slow out there and the water is pretty dirty right now from recent rains.
