July 3rd scalloping

Post by Hit-n-Miss »

Image. Beautiful day to be on the water today. I love being out there with my family. A lot more boats out there than I thought would be on a Friday. Image. I'm liking my new Garmin that I got for Father's Day. I finally got a chance to play with it. We piddled around at fishing till 9:30 but know luck. So it was time to get in the water. I punched in my closest scallop spot and headed to it. There was a boat 100 yards from it when we got there. My wife saw them put a huge bag of scallops in the boat as we were getting ready to get in. They left shortly there after. The scallops were there. We got our limit in just over and hour. Image. We cleaned them on the boat and relaxed for a little bit and decided to head in to beat the crowd at the ramp. The only problem was they were still going out. Image. Still was not bad. You just have to have patience with people struggling to control a boat. Yelling at them to move won't help. Great day on the water with my family. Be there again tomorrow.

Good day, but you can have those crowds. I cut up storm trees instead and barely avoided heat exhaustion. :-?

What Garmin unit did you get? I'm planning on the 44dv on the new boat and that one looks similar? If it is that one, how do you like it so far?

Looks like a blast! I'm ready to get out there but It will be about a week before I can make a dedicated scallop trip.
