I should be in Don. I'll need to double check the schedule. Why so late this year?

Less than 3 weeks out for Take A Kid Fishing
We have 5-6 boats so far, could get by with 5-6 more. The kids at Baptist Childrens Home really enjoy this event and look forward to it every year.
If you can help or know someone who might ,give me a call or email me. Same venue as previous years, captains match up with their kid at 7:45 at Fort in St Marks, fish till 1:00 and back in for the cookout. The ramp fee has been waived for the captains, pavilion has been reserved and all the food and drinks have been donated. If you have kids of your own or grandchildren, I request you bring them ,they will all have a great time together. I do try to match the children's ages with yours,if you bring them.
Thanks for your help

It's a great time, all. I've done this for several years and enjoyed each time. Your favorite black bass spot will easily entertain the kids and give them a time to remember. Big kudos to the Englands and other help make this a wonderful annual event!!

Man, I hope we can get more boats. It will be really sad telling a child they can't go cause we couldn't find enough captains. Sounds like we need at least double what we have. I've called all of my buddies with boats and have 2 maybes. The date is the same as goodwood jams so that may keep a few folks out. Come on folks, dig deep

We have 10 boats with captains and many with their kids. Could still use 6-8 boats, as in the past try to let each kid have his or her own boat .
FWC has donated limited number buffs to be given out to captains, as they commit to the event.
There will also be safety/boating etiquette Tuesday November 3 at 6:15pm so the kids will know what to expect.
This will take place at Baptist Childrens home on Buck Lake road.
Please let me know if you can participate in either event

Thanks

In past years, Don has given a more in debth description of the day. He must be getting sorry in his older age ;-) . Every year Don and Karen put together the day by rounding up about 20 boats and captains (loose interpretation of captain, more like anyone with a boat). They cook hotdogs afterwards for everyone. For most of the kids, this is the only fishing they will do all year. The kids range in age from probably 6ish on up to 15-16. They are always great. Super well mannered and respectful. I've taken some that were hard core fishermen and women and some that were just along for the ride. But most are pretty fired up to catch fish. Everyone always has a good time. If you have time and a boat, you are good to go. I hope you can make it, tell as many friends as you can. If we don't get a few more boats, we will be putting the kids on top of each other.

Don, I'm not sure. One person who goes every year had a stroke and is out. Possibly one other?

SG thanks for the detailed recap. Sorry I have been busy with honeydo's. We just need boats, no captain liscense needed. It will most likely be one of the best days on the water you will have this year. Anyone participating will probably have a house parent or sponsor accompanying the child. All the children will bring their own life jacket and their own snak. The boat/ captain will supply the rods and bait. As of now,I have 10 boats, that will put a little over 2 kids per boat. Any overflow of kids will go on "the back porch" thanks Tallykenj
Another 6-8 boats would be great.
Call me if you can make it
Thanks ss-342

Take A Kid Fishing is this Saturday, out Fort San Marco St Marks. We have 12 boats as of today, with. 21 kids from Baptist Childrens Home . The kids from the home arrive at 7:45 get paired with their captain and blast off at 8:00 am. The ramp fee has been waived for participating captains, and the pavilion has been reserved for the cookout at 1:00pm. All the kids will bring their own life jacket and usually a drink and snacks ,these are KIDS from 6-17 so I always bring an extra pfd and plenty on snacks and drinks. Still can use more boats if anyone might be interested.
I have a meeting this afternoon with Childrens home, will pair the captains with kids and notify each captain Wednesday by phone the who and how many on his/her boat.
Anyone with questions call me anytime before 9pm

Don -

I'm sure you realize this, but I still want to post it here.

By scheduling this event on the same day as the final NFGFC tournament, you eliminate the participation of any of the top 10 teams in the NFGFC standings even though there are some of us who may wish to help.

Please feel free to check our schedule at www.nfgfc.org or contact any of the officers so we can help with avoiding any scheduling conflicts, and thanks for all you do for the Baptist Children's Home.
