NEED HELP

I have found a freashwater fish pond, that the owner said is full
of eels, ? will freshwater eels work on cobia, and if so, anyone
know of a trap made or one that can be made to catch them.
The pond is not very wide and only 6ft deep in the center.

Short answer, yes. American eels (common name) live in fresh and salt water at different points in their life cycle. If they've been in fresh I doubt they'll survive an immediate move to salt but you only need them for 30 seconds if your sight casting. I'd keep them in freshwater on the boat, not the live well. They're pretty hardy so 3-4 ought to handle it in a bucket in the shade. You could add a bubbler. They're a lot of fun to catch on a rod & reel. They're also the primo crab bait. A crab trap with a narrowed entance might work.

A dead eel also makes a good Cobia bait. Hook it through the lips and twitch it a little to make it look alive.
