Went down Friday evening to do some maintenance on the camper and to crank the mullet jon. The little 15 fired right up on the 3rd pull. Haven't been cast netting since the week of Thanksgiving so up and at it early Saturday morning. Took a friend of mine from the area with me. Mullet were not thick but they were around, not against the grass but out about 30-50 yards. We managed 12 total and after 2 1/2 hours of blind-casting nets we decided to just check out the creeks on high tide. Not a single mullet jumping in any creek we explored. We encountered several manatees way back in close to the double humps which was pretty cool. For all of you guys and gals that like to work the creeks for reds, please be mindful of all the cut-off crab pots around the entrances. They are everywhere and filling up with oysters quickly!
A little on the skinny side but mullet just the same.
Added some trout nuggets for a nice, fresh Sunday lunch.
