Aucilla 12/26/16. Loads o' shorts.

Post by DixieReb »

Tried Aucilla today with wife and our preacher. Put in 0930 on rising tide, worked our way down from landing almost to the island. Lots of boats, everybody catching short trout to 14''. We did get 2 just keepers and a couple of white trout along with a flounder and 3 bluefish. Had something big cut me off once, I'm guessing blue as I just caught a smaller one. Got tired of catching shorts and moved up above landing hoping for some reds. No reds but mullet were jumping and some guys were snatching some. We tried it and brought in a few scales, never got one. One fella said we weren't snatching hard enough, I almost threw my arm out trying. We figured out our rods weren't stiff enough and maybe try braid next time(?). I do want to try it again. Aucilla is a great place to fish. :smt004

I use 65 pound braid on mine when snatching mullet and caught some upper slots up near where you were before this warmer weather came in again.
