Ochlockonee Bay

Post by HookemBookem1 »

Fishing out of Ochlockonee this weekend and had a good game plan for Friday until this cold front. Where yall think we should try in the morning? Oyster beds at mouth of bay, creeks over toward piney island, or the flats? High tide is 6 am. Don't know what this weather has done to water temp. I am sure I am not the only one wondering the best approach for the weekend. Give your ideas. I'll be sure to do a report if we get in some good fish.

FSU Marine Lab at St. Teresa shows Gulf water temperature a few minutes ago at 58 degrees, a drop of 11 degrees from what I recorded on the East Flats last Friday.

May take through the weekend for the fish/water to warm back up. If I were going tomorrow I'd be hitting the creeks.

I'd check out Levy Bay if your boat is shallow draft enough. The creeks actually dump out to Ochlockonee Bay and I had pretty good success with reds in the creeks.

I'm going a couple days this weekend too, but haven't decided where yet. I know it's going to be tough but as of now the wind looks manageable and I haven't been in almost two weeks. If I were you I would focus more on areas I have had success with reds, I'm pretty sure the trout are going to have their panties in a bunch over this temp change.

X3 on the shallow draft. Better try to enter on no less than a half rising tide and leave when the tide turns. That is a VERY shallow bay.
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!

Fish levy bay and creeks around hard and around piney island couldn't hardly buy a bite. Ended with one flounder haha. Water was cold and it was somewhat chilly this morning. Might try to run out toward st marks tommorow no telling where they are
