Took an old (long time) friend from Texas out to catch a trout. Put in at the Light house and went east to drift while the tide came in. First cast and keeper trout; his first speckled sea trout, game on. We caught a few shorts before another keeper and started our drift into the bay. He caught cats, ladies, a stingray and even accidentally hooked (and released unharmed, a sea turtle). This guy was a catching machine. Went to the back of the bay and he landed his first red fish. What a day for the rookie. Ended the day with last cast and a keeper trout. Wound up with 6 keeper trout up to 20" and the red fish, and supper was great.
The wind was just enough to keep us moving and the bugs away. Water temp at 80ish and caught the fish on plastic, shrimp and cut bait. I think he might want to go again the next time he's in town.

Good times! Just be sure to tell not every trip is like that.
