Flounder Fishing Question

How is flounder fishing at Alligator point? Thanks in advance.

It is pretty decent, but I always catch more over at Bald Point State Park... May just be a coincidence, but I seem to catch more trash fish in general at Alligator Point

How do you go about catching them? What baits do you use?

Cast net bull or mud minnows.

Set up a Carolina rig with an ounce or two of weight above the swivel with 1-2' of mono leader. 10-12# test is plenty.

Drag that minnow in creek mouths, creek channels, along rocks, sea walls, shorelines etc. Its a lot of work targeting flounder.

Our best days have resulted in about 10 fish.

Great advice from bbb. Small finger mullet will also work. Flounder prefer longer baits. Give a slow count before setting the hook to let them swallow.

Another option is a soft-plastic jig like a Sureketch or CAL. White with pink tail is always a good combo or natural like the Stark Naked pattern in the CALs. Bounce slowly along the bottom in the same spots mentioned earlier. If you catch one fish, fan-cast the area thoroughly, as the fish often congregate together in similar habitat.

Flounder like to lay in areas next to structure and any sandy spots you can find. Also off points can be good. Like the other guys said, where there's one there's likely to be more. Good luck. I think the bite will improve as it cools down some.
