Though I knew how to fish!!!!!!!!!

Post by Tod »

Just like anything else, when you think you know how to do something it just disappears. Caught alot of fish during the spring and then the weather changes and you would think I have never caught a fish in my life. Went to Econfina on Saturday and like the last 3 or 4 weeks the fishing was slow. Moving out, moving in just don't seem to find the fish. Did make a night trip last week for the first time and made it back in one piece :D . Almar, we got on the water just before dark and the water was like glass and I thought not good, not enought movement, but by midnight the wind was howling and the water was rough. Is this typical or just a bad night. While the water was somewhat fishable we did have some action on top water and pin fish. Back to Saturday, started out west but did not have any action, we were on the water at 5:30 am and fished until 11:00 am. Ended up back on the east side in 5 feet of water and did find a fish or two. At least we didn't get skunked. Ended up with 3 keeper trout with 3 short trout and one keeper rock bass. All fish were caught on grubs under the C/T. Candy corn seemed to be our flovor of the day.

If this helps, I have some friends that caught lots of trout, around 8ft, tight lines, seems the right spots , grass, rocks etc, the trout seem to be hanging together and not spread out like in the spring and fall.. hope that helped. frank ( they caught a few real early in 5 ft on topwater also )

YOU JUST JOINED THE CLUB, CARL AND I WENT 3 TIMESA COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO AND ON ONE OF THE TRIPS WE DID NOT EVEN GET A STRIKE. THOSE TROUT DO NOT LIKE 85-89 DEGREE WATER, THEY AARE GOING TO FIND SOMEPLACE WHERE THE TEMP IS ABOUT 75, GENERALLY THAT WILL BE IN WATER 8-15 FT. DEEP, THIS LAST TIME WE WERE IN WATER 5-8' AND DID REAL GOOD RIGHT NEXT TO THE CHANNEL ON OVER TO ABOUT 5' OF WATER. WE WENT OUT PAST THE BIG BAR THAT STICKS OUT OF THE WATER ABOUT 4' ON LOW TIDE AND STARTED OUR DRIFT JUST PAST IT DRIFTING EAST TO WEST..
WE ALSO HAD A ZIP TRIP LAST WEEK MOONLITIN, BUT IT WAS REALLY OVERCAST, HAD ABOUT 5-6 BLOW-UPS BUT NO HOOK-UPS. SOME TIMES YOU CAN DO EVERYTHING YOU KNOW HOW TO DO AND THEY JUST WILL NOT STRIKE.
