Trailer wheels
Looking to replace 5 galvanized wheels with a set of aluminum spoke wheels. Can anyone recommend a place between Tally and Dothan that sells 13" boat trailer wheels?

Re: Trailer wheels
Discount Tire behind the Taco Bell on Capital Circle NE has been good to deal with for us. I have about six Meridian Surveying trucks, one of which is always needing tires it seems. I would get radial trailer tires as long as you are upgrading. They cost more, but last along longer.

Re: Trailer wheels
Thanks Steve. I have the radials and they're still in good shape. I hope to find just the wheels and have the current tires mounted on the new wheels. Seems most around Dothan carry some 14" & 15" wheels but 13" are scarce. May have to order online if I can't find them within 100 miles.

Re: Trailer wheels
Have you considered upgrading to 14" wheels?
Most boats your size are on 14's from what I have seen. Might be worth considering.

Re: Trailer wheels
Is this a solid axle trailer or a torsion axle?

I second Capital Hitch. Never had a bad experience with them. Plus they are good on price.Redfin wrote:Capital Hitch

Give Coastal Trailer in Medart a call. It would be a closer drive for you, especially if you need to go to Shields,

Re: Trailer wheels
Thanks for the suggestions. Checked both web sites and neither has the kind of 13" spoke wheels I want. They do carry the OEM wheels but I'm looking for the aluminum mag wheel design . The trailer has torsion axles and I have tried to convert to 14" but the boat sits about an inch above the fenders and the 14" wheels won't fit without raising the fenders so I'm sticking to the factory 13" wheels and looking for a style similar to this one:

Re: Trailer wheels
Rick, those are very similar to the ones Rolls added to my custom trailer.
You might give Dan a call there and see what he has in stock. Rolls Axle, 888-765-5752
I've ordered replacement parts from Eastern Marine as well. Good prices and fast shipping but coming from NJ, so it would be cheaper to ship from Lakeland (Rolls).

eBay is where I bought mine. Tons to choose from.

Re: Trailer wheels
THANK YOU SIR. I like those, they're very close to what I want. I'll call Rolls tomorrow to see if he can beat Eastern's price but Eastern has the style I've been looking for and the price is right.. and shipping is only $47. for four wheels. They're listed as "limited quantity" so keeping my fingers crossed they still have 4 in stock.silverking wrote:Rick, those are very similar to the ones Rolls added to my custom trailer.

Re: Trailer wheels
This place has 13” wheels and ships free. I ordered some 14” load range D tires from them once when I had a hard time finding them locally and they shipped the 2 tires and rims mounted and balanced...

Re: Trailer wheels
I don't have a "gender" issue. I'm happy as I am thank you.UFBeef wrote: Talk to him about your the 14s and your gender issue, those guys are awesome down there and make some of the best trailers around.

Joking aside... it's too late. Already ordered the wheels. I had tried to fit 14" wheels on the trailer and they just won't fit without raising the fenders and if I did that, I'd have to raise the bunks so the boat wouldn't sit on the fenders. I get my feet wet now and then when launching with 13" wheels, it would be worse with 14.
Eastern Marine had the ones I wanted but the weight rating was 60 lbs per wheel less than the old galvanized wheels on the trailer now and they weren't DOT approved. I found a little better deal on DOT approved wheels rated 1740 and 140 lbs per wheel more than the old ones at: https://recstuff.com/ and they're closer so the shipping was less too.
Thanks for the help.
