Recommend rod and reel for pompano fishing on surf and pier

Please recommend a rod and reel for surf and pier fishing pompano and trout.
I plan to use mono.

Whatever you can afford would be my first response, that gets you fishing. 3000-4000 series spinning reel paired with 7- 7’6” rod would allow you to fish for anything inshore.

From pomp, trout, reds, flounder, and on and on.

WM has a great Ugly Stik combo for about $40 that will be a start rod/reel. I'd really suggest you use 15# braid though, especially for casting further in the surf.

From the shore, 8 foot rod medium to medium light with a 30 series reel. I also recommend going with the 15# to 20# braid over mono.
