May 2024 New Smyrna Daytona Orlando Backcountry

Post by CaptMikeSavedow »

Summer 2024 has arrived to East Central Florida, water temperatures rising, early mornings alive with fish activity, schools of baitfish, mullet are abundant, our best variety of different fish species of the year in summer, all the sub tropical species have moved north from their cool season south Florida haunts, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Pompano and others have joined our resident fish that live hear all year long, Seatrout, Redfish, Snook and more. Starting summer fishing trips early morning at sunrise, before the heat builds by mid day, fish are feeding and active with the sun coming up and slowing down as late morning arrives. Central Florida client repeat Bronson caught and released this beauty of a Black Drum at 28’ recently on one of the last chilly spring mornings …………..

Long time repeat client Wayne from Tennessee went with me 2 mornings, first morning was a mixed bag variety trip with lots of different species, day 2 we hit the flats at Mosquito Lagoon and landed this beautiful Redfish, CPR catch photo release …………….
