Wow what a day of fishing it was.. It started out at 6am as most fishing trips do. I left the house and got a few miles away and realized I had left my new anchor rope at home, So I turned around and swung back through the drive way and was pleased to see I had also left my four fishing rods leaning up against the fence. This I had done earlier while I was looking for the new quart of oil I had bought Friday. Needless to say the day was not starting out so good. I finally made it to the Light House around 7:15 Launched the McKee and started throwing the Net to fill up the bait well. After about Six throws with only small Bull Minnows I decided to head out and try to catch more bait at the "Honey Hole" while I floated a live bull minnow on a Cajun Thunder. This was a problem because every time I set the rod down to through my net that thunder would make that distinctive noise "chick chick". After two nice trout (18" and 21") and four lady fish I was out of bait. Then I tried something new to me, but will probably be old hat to the rest of the board. I took one of the lady fish and ran a piece of rope through the gills and slit up the sides and belly and through the fish in the water. I then pasted the time waiting for the local pinfish population to find this treat, by throwing a popa chug top water green mirror lure. This took more time than I was planning to allot, due to the fact that two more trout (18"-20") would not leave that lure alone. After landing the second trout I picked up my net and in one throw I had a well full of nice 3"-5" pinfish and what looked Like Small 3"LY's. With this I decide to venture out and find the "Rock Gardenâ€

WOW !
Great job. I've had those days when I (almost) left the poles at home...
Haven't tried the ladyfish-pin fish chum aoproach, but might do it if it becomes necessarry. My boat is in the shop, and I wanted to be out there so bad....

Thanks for the report.
(any pics?)

Unfortunatly no pics I need to get a cheap digital camera for the boat. I never go in the woods with out my video camera and have some great footage, but am alittle hesitant taking it to the coast.

Next time I cant find a fishing partner for the day I will post on the board.

Good report Fishfeeder. Got two questions for you.

1. When you put out the lady chum, were you anchored or drifting?

2. What size net do you use?

Thanks. again.

Way to go, Fishfeeder!

I wanted to go out yesterday too. I got the boat all loaded at 5:30 AM and as I was hitching up the trailer I realized I had lost the keys to the new pin I just bought that locks the hitch. After looking in the dark for an hour with a flashlight for the tiny little keys, I decided to drink a cup of coffee and read the newspaper. But I did get bolt cutters and solved the problem for next time.

When I put out the lady chum I was standing on a oyster bar. I use a 8' Bait net "TINTED BLUE" I feel that the color of the net is very important a white net seems to scare the bait because I feel it looks like the underside of some preditory birds.

Also, a blue net, on a good day, blends in better with the sky overhead. Did you tint it yourself?
