Put out at the Fort at around 9:30am in the morning. It was choppy and pretty windy for about an hour and a half then everything got calm a bit. We ended up mucking around and finally went around Patty's Island which had our only success of the day. I used a Cajun Thunder with a shrimp to catch all of these. I caught a 15.5 inch Spotted Trout, a baby trout, some fish I dont know, and a mullet (wth!?). I caught a mullet off of a shrimp and once I get it on the boat it came off and flipped behind me and landed in the livewell. My fisherin partner caught a Spotted trout, pinfish, and another trout. We both had 1 HUGE trout that jumped out of the water and broke our lines
On the way back to the Fort some birds were following us and trying to race each other behind the boat (pretty funny)

BIRDS
THOSE BIRDS FALL IN BEHIND THE BOAT, WHEN YOU GO THROUGH A POD OF PILCHARDS, YA KILL SOME OF THEM AND THEY COME TO THE TOP, THEN THE BIRDS HAVE A FREE MEAL. THEY FOLLOWED US EVERY TIME WE CRANKED UP TO MOVE TO A NEW SPOT, I COULD SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING, THEY AREN'T A BUNCH OF DUMMIES.

When I was a little kid growing up in Lauderdale, we used to fish for mullet off of the seawalls, using dough balls on small hooks. We caught a lot of 'em that way, but we always released 'em 'cause folks down there don't eat mullet, we were taught.
I love mullet up here and have wondered if it was a different species here.
