WINDY

Post by AJ »

Back on the water for only the second time since January I shouldn't complain but I will always complain when it's this windy. We started out behind Piney Island and wasted five hours with only a 7" trout and a pin fish to show for it. Trying to stay out of the wind, we tried Spring Creek and every oyster bar from Panacea to Shell Point without a hit. We had put in at Mashes Sands so as we were headed back to the hill we decided to fight the wind and fish the bars at Bald Point (where I wanted to start the day but the wind was too strong). By now we had a falling tide and we were running low on shrimp. We found fish on the East side of a oyster bar, 6-14.5" trout :( and 3 short reds. I got broke off by maybe the only keeper red of the day and we ended up with just one keeper trout (16.5").

I have never had a good day when the wind was blowing, but it was better than mowing the yard and it's good to feel a rod bend again. Made it back in time to see the last three quarters of a Seminole win (can you say by the skin of your teeth).

Good luck to everyone who goes tomorrow and for those who don't go fishing, go to church.

Ya'll have fun. It's good to be back on the water again!
