Sir Reel and I hit the water about 0730 yesterday.
I've read the other two inshore reports from yesterday. We didn't do much better.
Ran east of Grey Mare. Fished everything from 1.2' to 6'. Picked up 4 or 5 shorts, and 2 that were dead on 15". Back in the water they went. Ran back toward the lighthouse to Secret Spot #40 (I have more than 2). The sun is high in the sky by this time. Thought maybe they might move up shallow to thaw out (water temp in the low 60's). Nope! Started moving out looking for good bottom. Started fishing again in 3.5 +/-. Picked up 1 keeper and several shorts on the first drift. Turned around to make the drift again, and the wind died. The water turned as slick as a mirror. The tide was near dead low. No movement. So we ran out to Secret Close In Trolling Spot #12 (I have more than 2 of these, too) in 20' of water. I suggested to SR, If we can't catch a trout, lets play with the sea bass and grunts. I should interject that all we had in the boat was inshore equipment. At this point the fight was on. SR finally beat me up, and pulled out his GPS and marked Secret Trolling Spot #12. I was a bloody pulp, lying in the bottom of my own boat. SR becomes very violent when he wants a number.
We added 1 Sea Bass to our catch at Secret Trolling Spot #12. I'll let Sir Reel tell the rest of the story, as I was lying in the bottom of the boat, nearly unconcious.
Bones, we didn't do much better than you. I also think the fish are feeding on the rising tide. (We didn't fish the rising tide, So, That's my theory, and I'm stickin to it)

What was I supposed to do today?
Well, as PH would say, TC left off the rest of the story. Even though we didn't catch a boat load, he caught 2 every time I caught 1!
Now bout that bloody pulp story.... the reason TC got beat up was that the first drop at secret spot #12 ... he brings up a short grouper (est 18" -19",on a trout grub!
)
and while he's down on one knee trying to grab the fish (someone did not bring a net).... I'm dig'n up my camera and grab'n my Zebco off the the floor. TC see's me with my Zebco and says "what'n thunder are you doing". I'm grinning
and say'n "I'm gonna take a picture of your fish, and my Zebco, in your boat.....
and post it on the forum.
I can not repeat, in good conscience, the conversation that followed
but needless to say TC lost the fish at the side of the boat and then tried ta lose my Zebco overboard too!
I just couldn't let him do it and fer a little guy...he puts up quite a scrap!
The true story is we had a beautiful day
, the fishing was tough, we saw groups of birds diving and dolphin feeding 2 or 3 times so there were some kind of fish somewhere, the company was outstanding and I was able to spend a day "at the feet of the master"
Thanks TC
