Mako was freed himself from his family to join me in the TC-II for an afternoon fishing trip. We put in at the Lighthouse at 12:20pm on a 2X dead-low tide. The channel was so shallow, we had to tip-toe out of the landing channel, digging my own channel into the mud about 5 times before we reached the jetty. Channel depth in dead center was less than 18â€

It was a good time. Had a heck of a time rinsing the boat in freshwater. Went down to the lake up the road form the landing, and rolled the trailer off the end of the ramp. They had lowered the water level for some reason. I almost thought we weren't going to be able to pull it out. The old Toyotya came thorugh on the third attempt. Ended up rinsing at the bridge at Newport.
Fried the backbones and throats today and made a great lunch. Saving the fillets for later. It's been a while since I've had any grouper.
wevans- I'm glad to hear Mako cought up with you. I really wanted to tag along for the experience, and to meet you.
Thanks for the comments, replies and ideas !

Rocket- The boat did most of the work, and it took a while to find the fish, but we stumbled on to them by accident I am sure. After all I have heard that "I am one of the luckiest men alive". I marked a bunch of spots and saw a bunch of good bottom, and will be returning there sometime soon. Keep trying and you'll be sure to find them. Thanks for the response....

Way, cool!
I need this kind of encouragement to get my 21' SportCraft back out there in the cool weather for some of them Groupers who're sneaking in from way out there and want to sacrifice themselves to my appetite for some fillets! Love them G-fingers, too!
Any body who needs a grouper podna on short notice, give me a call at 850-893-3278. I already got one bite! Count me in on sharing gas, bait, ice boat cleaning and making sandwiches. One or two fish at a time is all I'm interested in, so, the Captain can have the rest of my limit anyway he wants.
And, I'm really a nice dude, no chit!

In a land called, Perfect, sea grits grows on the beach dunes in patches next to those of sea oats!
