CARRABELLE 12/29

Post by CROCKER »

STARTED ABOUT 8:00 IN THE MORNING.
THE RIDE WAS ROUGH GOING OUT BUT SLAKED UP SOME LATER IN THE AFTERNOON.

FISHED IN 40' TO 60' RANGE NEVER REALLY FOUND THE GROUPER.
DID MANAGE TO CATCH 3 KEEPER GROUPER AND ABOUT 40 GRUNTS.

FRIEND TOLD ME TO RIG UP A YELLOW BUCKTAIL JIG ON LIGHT LINE TO CATCH THE GRUNTS. I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT. 5 SMALL GROUPER AND THEN THE LINE BROKE. I THOUGHT I WOULD GET SMART TRY A BIGER JIG. NOTHING. BUT IT WAS FUN CATCHING THOSE SMALL GROUPER ON 10 LB TEST.

TALKED TO SOME GUYS IN A VERY NICE CONTENDER BOAT (WE SHOULD ALL HAVE ONE OF THOSE) THEY CAUGHT ABOUT 20 GROUPER OUT AROUND S TOWER IN ABOUT 120' OF WATER.

Nice report! It is fun to try new rigs in unusual places, especially off shore. Inshore, those big rigs won't do anything I guess; but offshore, there is such variety you can fish anything and catch something and have fun with it.

Good report C. As with us, sounds like you had a good and fun day out there.
'Might have to try that jig trick.
Happy New Year to ya.
