Pt. St. Joe

Post by DixieReb »

Wife and I went out with friends to St. Joe Bay New years Day. Fished in the IC canal and got lots of short trout on jigs, shrimp. Missed small flounder. Saw one good trout caught off the bank. Lots of boats out, looked a lot like St. Marks river in winter.
Next day went out again, fished buoy line in bay and got 1 keeper sea bass, several short ones. Went and gassed up boat at marina and went back to canal. Took a while for bite to start, finally found some and got 2 nice keeper trout, lots of 13-14'' ones. Got one on jig, the rest on fish finder bottom rig with shrimp, small hooks. Left with fish biting, I tried to tell the rest of 'em I didn't have to work tomorrow and could keep fish'in, but no, they wanted to go back to work!! That's just not right, is it? :x
Anyway, it was fun finding a few trout, since they have been so scace lately. :-D

From all the reports from St Joe Bay, it seems to have been very quiet over there.
You probably did as well as anyone else.

Cranfield, I don't think anybody is fishing the bay right now. We only saw about 2 boats out there all weekend. But the IC canal seems to be producing fairly well. Maybe warmer water. We didn't have a temp. gauge on our boat. I was just glad to get some bites.
