A unique website dedicated to fishing information from Florida's Northern Big Bend. This includes the area from the Econfina River west to the Apalachicola River
Thinking about going up one of the rivers and fish for trout & maybe redfish. I know the trout are not in season but gotta get out. Which river is the best place to try and launch from. Thanks for any help you can give.
They all have their plusses and minuses. Probably the St. Marks River is easies as far as having the most places to put in and the least likelihood of hitting a rock.
From what I've read and heard, you'd do better to put in at the fort and head up river and try the holes Trout and Reds in the holes and a feller caught a 25 pound Stripper close to the 98 bridge in one of the holes fishing for Reds with cut Mullet
I agree with wevans on this for sure. The Lighthous is too far down river rignt now. Look at Tin Can's report from today, posted under FRESH water fishing reports [as those trout and redfish get fresh water in the winter!]
Take Woodville Hwy all the way to the stop sign in the quaint town of St. Marks. Turn right at the stop sign, and follow that street past Posey's, through the killer S-curve and to the next stop sign. Turn left at this stop sign, and the fort and ramp are at the end of the road.
