caught some fish. I'd like to thank Mr. Don England for giving me a little lesson in fishing catching 101 yesterday. With respect to his spots, I'll say that we were in the Oyster Bay area and leave it at that. Shrimp tipped jigs and shrimp on a jighead was the choice of the day. Water temp in the 64 deg area. Don, our new buddy Charles, and myself hit the water about 8:30. Managed my first red while Don pulled in the first trout of the day.
The red measured 25" and about 6.5 lbs. A couple of casts later, I managed to "quick release" another red of about the same stature. We did land 3 more short reds over the day.
We also ended up with 5-6 keeper trout and about 20 more shorts. Also caught 5-6 sheepshead and a couple of flounder.
Here's Charles on his first saltwater adventure. I think he enjoyed himself and caught more fish than Don and I combined.
