Man what a weekend of fishing. I'm wore out. I had a great day fishing Sat. with Chalk. He's a great guy and I highly recommend him as a fishing partner and a photographer.
Chalk throughly covered Saturdays fishing so I'll move on to Sun. Put in at Presnells again in time to watch the sun rise on the Bay. The winds were much higher and from the southeast today so it was pretty rough. I wanted to try and repeat Sat. redfish so I started again pretty close to Presnells' channel. Fished a few drifts there for about 1 hour. I had 1 red explode on a top dog jr. and managed a hookup for about 5 seconds. He was into his first run when I felt the hooks pull out. Big let down but also exciting.
One of the guides at Presnell's had mentioned to me that they were catching good trout in >11' of water with jigs on the bottom, so I headed out to a hole I knew about. Man, it was rough. 1st cast in the deeper water was rewarded with a nice spanish. With thoughts of a good limit of spanish in my head, I preceded to fish for 45 min. without another bite. Back to the redfish water I go.
I set up in some 2'-3' water in the south end of the bay. Had several good blowups on a top dog jr. but never could set the hooks. Eventually, I would drift out of the fish, so I would motor back around drift again. After more topwater explosions than I care to remember, I finally sealed the deal on a nice 25" red. I know I should have thrown a spoon or a spinnerbait or a jig, but nothing produces the thrill that a good topwater bait can. While all this was going on I did manage to land a real nice 19" trout and a couple of shorts.
With a 2 hr. drive ahead of me and being fairly wore down from showing Chalk how to catch fish on Sat., I headed for presnells around 1:30.
The Bay is in fair shape considering all the fresh water that has come down the canal the last few weeks. In some areas visibility is less than 1 foot, in others it is only somewhat cloudy.
Total for the Day:
1 - 25" red
1- 19" trout
3 short trout
1- 20" spanish
0 Roosters -big red must have got him last night.
Can't wait until next time.

Thanks, Chalk. I appreciate that.
Forgot to mention in my post, and I may be the last to know this, but Bluewater Outriggers in Port St. Joe has moved into a bigger location. I stopped by there today and was impressed to say the least. 3 good tackle stores right next to my favorite fishing hole, I may have to get a night job to keep from going broke.

Bluewater Outfitters
I will concur, bluewater is awesome. they had just opened last weekend when we were there and they had the largest selection of saltwater stuff i have ever seen.
