unreal the amount of water running on sides of road between 19 and
ramp...river very high and dark.
Out on Fri am about midmorning....should have been low tide (.3)
but was actually about equal to a 3-3.5 with river draining so much....current unreal! Headed against wind up to just east of
Peter's Rock and using CT w/candy corn tipped with piece of
Fishbites started catching immediately. In 3 hours had caught about
40 shorts and limit of 5 between 17.5-23". Headed back down coast
against the wind that had shifted to the SE. Rough trip in skiff both
ways but well worth it.
Out on Sat am about same time and conditions much calmer.
Anky was packed with vehicles! Had to go try the same area again
so made nice run up that way and within 2 hours had limit fishing
same rig between 18-23. I actually did a little culling and only caught
about 5 shorts. Headed back in to beat crowd at ramp.
Out on Sun about 12:30. Ran down to about end of Hickory Mound
and worked my way back west in about 4 feet and caught limit with two
largest coming on Catch Jr and others on jig combo.
Noseeums were terrible...even on flats on Peter's Rock on one
occasion.
Most everything caught from 4' to shallower. Saw boats fishing in
all depths including some quite far out between Econfina and
Aucilla. Don't know how accurate my unit reads but showed temps
between 64 and 70 during weekend.
All in all a truly great weekend! Sounds like everyone who got out had lots of success.
