Lake Jackson 5/19

Post by brunner2178 »

I went to Jackson about 3 p.m. with nothing but a flippin stick in hand. Put in at Crowder landing and motored in to the thick stuff, pads, hydrilla, maiden cane, all that good stuff. I was very curious because the last time I was out, saw a lot of action in the thick vegetation. First flip a fish, about 2 lbs. My hunch was working. Continued the same technique and caught 6 more over a two hour period. Suprisingly, the vast majority were good quality fish, not little dinks like fishin the open water. I guess it's true that the bigger boys like the slop. Used 7'6" heavy action rod with 25 lb braided power pro. Lure was a Junebug zoom super craw pegged with a 3/8 oz weight. Loads of fun. I had to come in earlier than I wanted due to a rumbling thunderhead. :)
