Casting for shrimp???

Post by sbra27 »

Being new to the area, I was wondering if there were any good places where one could throw a cast net for shrimp, in the big bend? I'm from the Jacksonville area, and this is rather productive in the brackish waters of the St. Johns river. Any thoughts???

I grew up shrimping over around Jville and have looked around here for a spot but can't seem to find the right place. I've never tried it but I understand that they do pretty well off of Aligator Point during the right time of the year...which should be in the Fall if memory serves me correctly?

When I first moved here I went to the tackle shop and told them I needed some "shrimp meal" they just kinda looked at me dazed and confused.....

They sell that stuff by the Lb at Thrifty B&T.

If you find a spot let me know and I'll do the same.

Thanks for the help.. Have you ever heard of them casting in Ochloknee Bay where the water is more brackish? I will definitely let you know if I hear anything.
