Fishing with the kids (long)

Post by chugbug »

I met the coordinator for the camp around 6 PM and met the two kids I would be fishing with. I didn't realize this was the girls week. :o 10-13 year olds. We ate pizza and headed for the pond, boat in tow.

My two young ladies were Kia (11) and Ashley(13) aka. Mouth-of-the-South.

As soon as the boat was in the water they were in it eager to catch the first fish. First cast and Ashley is screaming that she has one. I suspect weeds. This would continue until dark.

Much to my surprise they could both cast pretty decent and one of them could even tie their own hook. Pretty impressive. We shove off the bank and start our way around the edge and eventually out through some cedar and cypress trees. Ashley was the first to hook up. She landed a 1 pounder and it was on. Non stop chatter about how good she was bla bla bla. It was so funny to hear trash talking and I was really enjoying it.
She also hooked the second fish and started hooting and hollering.

Kia was the more passive of the two and she finally hooked up on a decent fish and became more excited as we went.

Total we caught 8 keepers and had a few get off. It was a great time and the girls and I really had a great time. I'm doing it again Tuesday at the Bienville Plantation. That should be fun. Next week is the boys camp.

I took pics but decided not to post because they aren't my kids and I'm not sure how the parents feel about it. There is a big fish fry tonight that should be just as much fun.

Good job Chug  Kids can make what would ordinarily be just a trip to the pond something really special. :D
"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
