Transom Vs Bow Mount Trolling Motors?????

Post by T Smith »

Can the head of a transom mount trolling motor be swiveled 180' and used on the bow? :smt017 For some reason I remember thinking or hearing this. Depending on the person I take fishing sometimes I like to fish the front or rear of the boat and it would be nice to be able to move the trolling motor accordingly. It probably depends on the model I'm thinking a Minn Kota riptide transom mount. I don't know why the motorguides always seem to be $50 more than a comparable minn kota.

Yes they can be swiveled around  that being said though :-D I would not want to be doing it back and forth on a regular basis  You take the top off "so you can see and rearrange the wires, remove the screws holding the head to the shaft and twist it 180 degrees "the wiring determines the direction of the twist"

thanks wevans,

So its possible but definately not something your gonna do on the water, at least I'm not. And you probably don't want to do it a bunch of times cause you might loosen or bugger up the wires. My plan is to have a mounting bracket on the front deck and one on the polling platform and a plugin at each deck. So I can move it to either location.

The previous owner of my boat used one all the time turned around. I just ordered a bow mount that I'm going to put on the front. Just buy one of each :-D :-D

OK, Thanks guys thats what I needed to know. I'll just buy a transom mount and move it as needed. It would be nice to just buy two but that will have to wait untill I get a real job!!!
