Mashy Sands Sunday 7/31/05

Post by DuctTapeKing »

Well I got a pass from the wife and two young boys to go fishing sunday. SO me and rgharris rode down late saturday night to his beach house at mashy sands. We decided to get up at 5:30 and be on the oyster bars at first light. Well 5:30 came really early. I walked outside still hollow eyed and saw about 10 lighting flashes in 2 minutes. It was clear over my head but the flashes were coming from where we planned to fish. Ok so a little more shut eye for just a few minutes all by myself didn't sound so bad at 5:30. I woke again at 6:15 and opened the back door to a heavy downpour. Alright I haven't had any coffie yet so back to the couch for a few more minutes. Finally by 9:00am the rain had stopped. We launched the boat and head toward the oysterbars stright towards some dark rain clouds. We fished for less than an hour and had to call it quits when we saw a water spout starting to form 100 yards or so from us. The only other boat we saw out that day had just picked up and headed out away from the dark ominous clouds, and they had been right where that spout started to form. My buddy did catch a really nice flounder on a popping cork and a bone white gulp shrimp. All in all it still beats a day at the office!!! The only regret I had was when I got home my oldest son Jaxson, 2 1/2 yrs old, was really upset at me for going fishing and not taking him. I've never seen him look at me like that...his innocence has been lost, and I think it was replaced by a true Angler!!!
