No they don't come into the rivers in summer. For some reason they come into the creeks...but not the rivers. Doesn't matter about the deep holes....they're not there....in the summer....in the rivers. almost never.
H n M....I don't creek fish but very little. Never have over at Econfina. Any creek of any length, with 5 foot or deeper holes...on high tide...seems to produce for those who fish them. You have to be careful about the tide getting out while you are in a creek. Lots of folks have been stranded by low water. :roll:Reds and trout are found there.
I have no idea why they don't come into the rivers...in summer. Of course we are going into the 3rd year with them not coming into the rivers in the winter.
Steinhatchee, Econfina, Aucilla all have been a bust for the past few years in winter.
Can't say much about the river. Maybe too much boat traffic or the feeding grounds to swift. I do know that the flats at the end of a creek seem to be where to go. Wakulla Beach Rd. I caught my first and only speckled trout in about 4 ft drifting in with the high tide. Apparently it was a keeper. 6 lbs and 27 inches. Caught from a canoe on a $20 Shakespere combo. Beginners luck I was told...
