Live Oak Island 9/3

Post by Charles »

Went wade fishing at the island for about an hour this afternoon. First red hit a little before 4. Second one hit about ten minutes later. Had some other strikes that didn't connect. All on a TopDog Jr.

Tried a jig under a popping cork for a little bit, but did nothing with that.

Tried to try a Red Fish Special, but a big rock slammed it on the first cast and kept it.

I think the two I caught and the strikes were a bunch moving through with the falling tide. After they moved on, nothing was happening.

Saw lots of needlefish, mullet and crabs in the area.

The water is clearer than I've seen it since Dennis. Even waist deep I could clearly see bottom.

I'm thinking about hittin' it before sunrise in the morning if anybody is interested. No, not that. I'm talkin' something important here, fishin'. ;-)

I'm a fan of those Redfish Magic's - thanks for the report

Magic, yeah that's it. Redfish Special was something else I saw recently. :-)

Those rocks and oyster bars really like to eat those spinnerbaits. Glad you caught a few, Charles.

The first was 22", the second was smaller. I didn't measure it , but it might have been in the slot.

There was a little floating grass around, but not bad. Not like trying to work a topwater and having to clear off a salad every cast. A lot of casts today I didn't get any grass.

Good deal, Charles. I'll go by and get that spinnerbait off of the rock for ya.
What was I supposed to do today?
