Whew, what a day. Hit the water at 7:30 and ran right to Dog Island to check water conditions. Cleanest I've seen it since Dennis. That was a surprise. Next issue, redtide. None. No sign of redtide all day. Fished Dog Island for an hour with a chug bug. Three or four 18 inch trout, lots o' shorts, bluefish and Spanish. Sun got right and I went in search of Mr. Spot Tail. Five minutes into my shallow water jaunt I spy a couple of decent reds easing on top of a bar that left them pretty naked. I led them by a couple feet and slowly stripped the fly away from them. They both charged the fly and the winner came to the boat. I pressed down the flat and caught six more reds (20-25 inches). The water was coming up nicely and I made a move to a high water spot. All hell broke loose here. A conveyor belt of fish (easy fish) pressed toward my boat for an hour and a half. I released probably 15 or more and left them chewing. Man, all this on a day that I expected to see gloom and doom at the coast. Here are some pics of the early fish (I didn't have time to snap any shots during the high water blitz):
Sweet spots on that last one Yer just gonna have to start guiding on the side now
