A buddy and I launched from the lighthouse about 10 minutes behind TinCan this morning. Headed west and fished topwater on a 2' grass flat on the last of the falling tide. Picked up 3 keeper trout and a couple of throwbacks.

As the tide turned, started to hit all the normal places looking for reds. My partner managed to land a nice 23"er on a spinnerbait. I didn't see any redfish sign all day. We didn't see or catch another redfish the rest of the afternoon. Although we saw lots of bait and mullet.

Tough day, but counting up the missed connections with a few nice trout, the opportunity was there for it to be a real nice day. Can't wait until next time.

Wevans, I've been able to pick up 3-5 real nice trout on topwater all summer. But, its got to be at first or last light, in spotty or grassy bottom, in <3' water, on topwater using long pauses in my retrieve. And there can't be a lot of floating grass.
