It was my turn to watch the kids (It was ladies night out), so I said "tonight we are going fishing." :-D Put the boat in at the lighthouse around 5:30 Friday. Water was smooth winds were light and conditions were perfect. (NOAA was wrong again for those who are keeping stats) Had a few doz live shrimp. I went with the intention of getting lucky and picking up a red on the falling tide, or better yet one of the kids catching a nice red. Spent most of the time baiting hooks, tying knots and releasing catfish & gaftops. I actually cut up a pinfish with a knife on the new console. Setting at the mouth of the river, the sun went down we were swarmed by clouds of no-see-ums and skeeters. Used two cans of Off. I had one major strike after sundown that may have been a red. Too bad the rod was in the rod holder and I was doing child care. He (possibly a red) shot off like a rocket and my drag was too tight and the line snapped before I could reach the pole.

Groped my way back to the lighthouse pool around 10:00pm. The channel was CRAM packed with a huge school of mullet. I had never seen so many in the boat channel in all my years going there. I could have loaded the cooler with the landing net if I had remembered to bring it. Maybe next time.....

It was fun spending the eveninig with the kids. My daughter Shelley took all the pictures.....
