Here it is middle of October already, its the time of year many have been waiting for. The bigger redfish make their run along the outside with the bulls pushing the school. Fishing the passes with live bait , cut bait or a good artificial will do. Good live bait will be a large croaker or a 5 or 6 inch mullet .For cut bait go to mullet and for the artificials its good to keep something heavy for those long cast but be prepared for those toothy Spanish .For your shorter cast a good gold spoon . For trolling you just cant beat the stretch 25. Slot redfish can still be had on most any day on the flats here in Port St Joe bay , Crooked Island sound or the Apalachicola bay area inlet mouths. Use a good gold spoon or mullet for a sure hook up but other baits will also land you a good redfish. I know shrimp and lys are still putting them on the table.
The trout bite is picking up for us and we are using top waters in red and white and grubs in green or white with a red tail, water around 3 foot deep to shallow cast to a foot. Although a lot of short trout will be caught in search of that biggen when supper time comes around it makes all that work worth while. Just be consistent and you will be rewarded with some nice trout on your table.
Flounder are hitting good on a fish finder rigged bait. Use a smaller mullet 3 to 4 inch’s , lys , bull minnows or cut bait fished hard on the bottom. On your fish finder rig try shortening your leader to around 6 to 9 inch’s. It has been helping our hook ups on the last few trips.
The big Spanish are along the beach , live bait works good but if you are willing to make a few cast use a heavy silver spoon, the heaviest you feel you can cast well .If your wanting a king use a mullet free lined , along the beach and with this north wind tie a balloon on your line it will get your bait out a little further and keep it out longer. I thought you reported a red tide in the Bay last weekend Gary? Has that cleared out?

The red tide is still in the bay and area waters you have to stay out of the pockets where it is lingering. Its tuff but you can find many areas not affected.

Ya I know how far I can cast , The gold we cast is 1/4 oz with 15 lbs power pro on a 6 6 light / med rod . Take a heavey spoon and cast 5 times the distance.
