Any thoughts? Ideas?

Post by Charles »

Last week there were lots of mullet in the canals down at Live Oak Island. Not tightly schooled, but a bunch around.

This week I have seen hardly any. Every once in a while I saw just one.

Last week there were fish showing all over the close flats off the east side of the island.

This week I have seen almost none.

Fewer blue crabs, too.

And I haven't seen any dead fish.

I thought the cooler weather we've had this week would push more fish up into the creeks and canals, but that doesn't seem to be what's happened.

Any thoughts? Ideas?

Fish have a mind of their own. If we knew what they were doing, and where they are every day, it wouldn't be nearly the challenge. The fish are where they are most comfortable. I have no idea what controls that. If we want to catch them, we have to figure it out.

I fished Mases Sands yesterday for several hours, and except for a few small baitfish and a crab, did absolutely nothing. Rode up and down the river from above the landing to past the mouth, saw a few fish on the depthfinder but none bunched up. I would'a thought with it getting cooler some fish might be in there, but no go. :( It's interesting you said that about the canal at Live Oak.

Wise words TC....
