Cedar Key 11/5/05

Took my girlfriend's father (Alan) out to try some shallow water grouper numbers that I have. He has never caught a keeper grouper, until yesterday. We stopped in 22' and started trolling and caught a 21 3/4" grouper within 2 minutes. Threw him back and started trolling again. In about 5 minutes we had a nice hit which managed to pull some drag. Alan grabbed the rod and after a nice fight I netted his first keeper grouper that went 28". He was pretty excited. The next hit was a freight train that pulled a lot of drag and busted off. There's goes $7 for a lure. We caught one more fish trolling that went 26" and I picked up one bottom fishing that went 24". About noon after loosing 3 lures to trolling (I'm pretty sure the line is getting old) and with the bite slowing we heading inshore to look for reds or trout. Tried fishing some shallow flats, oyster bars, and creek mouths and only managed to catch a bunch of catfish. All in all it was a great day.

"Good Judgement" comes from experience, ... and a lot of that..... results from "Bad Judgement".
