In at the LH at 8:30 with dad and headed to the East River to mess around with some shrimp and cut bait. We're both new at using bait, but figured it was worth a shot. We found a deep hole and brought up several small black seabass, some pesky pinfish, a pufferfish and a red. Enjoyed the assortment, stuff I don't usually see on the flats. Tide came in and we scooted along a long bar and pulled in two more reds. Things got slow and so did the tide, so we moved over to the East looking for trout. Dad got the only trout of the day, a nice 18"er on a topwater. Caught fish on Redfish Magic spinners, shrimp under a cork, cut fish off of the bottom and topwater plug. It's been almost two months since I've been down there and it sure isn't summer anymore...it's like learning a whole new game.

Stopped on the way in to try a hand at throwing my new castnet...got it to open up on about 2/3 of the throws....I didn't expect to actually catch anything with it by just randomly tossing it...but on the third throw it brought up two very puffed up and tangled up pufferfish. :lick:
