Econfina 11-14-05

Post by Welby »

Headed out of the Econfina about 11AM. Headed west and started a slow drift in. Myself and two friends worked hard for the limit but we finally got #15 (as usual the last one took about an hour). Most of the fish were caught under a CT with either a candy corn or a Berkley gulp Avacado. It did not matter but we had to be near tall grass. Sorry for the brief report but I'm tired..boat on the trailer about 4:30PM...Great day

Rather than start a duplicate topic, I will post my report here. We also went out sunday, around 9 am. My wife and I went with another boat with 4 of us all total. We headed east from the mouth to the "leaning birdrack of econfina" and drifted slowly back northwest several times. Had lots of shorts and 2 keepers by 11 am. I headed out to try some shallow water trolling around lunchtime and once again struck out. Nothing. We found good bottom and rocks at 25 ft, but they just would not bite anything. (Well, I did not have any pinfish to use). Anyway, we came back in and met back up with the other boat who had stayed, and did not miss much there either. Totals for the day. 6 keeper trout each boat, with us having 2 rock bass and them having 3 rock bass. The magic depth seemed to be 5 ft and they were biting electric chickens under CT and my old reliable white fluke payed off also. I was bouncing it along the bottom. Back in around 4:15, on smooth water.

Water was much more clear than I have seen it lately...I could see the bottom easily in 5' of water.
